Code4employment is a program initiated by African Development bank to equip young people to acquire digital skills for them to be employable. Currently the program is ongoing and it is hosted by Gombe State University and facilitated by Mc Anderson Institute of Technology while African Development bank Sponsored it.

The program is aim at equipping young Nigerians to acquire skills on either: Content writing, Web development, Graphic design and digital marketing. Which will last for 4 weeks starting on the 9th November 2020

My Experience so fat

After the online application we were invited for an interview to find out why we are interested in acquiring the particular skills we apply for. After a successful interview we start classes.

During the first week of classes we were taught Microsoft Office which comprises of Ms word for writing documents, Ms excel for data computation, Ms PowerPoint for presentation and Ms outlook for organizing emails.

During the second week classes we were taught about content writing and the skills need to be an effective content writer and such skills are: Research, linguistic accuracy, clarity and purpose, logical flow, format, writing headline lead and action, originality and digital marketing. Also we learn about emails, the parts and effect ways of sending a message via email with an attachment of either a document, picture or video. We learn how to create an account on medium and LinkedIn and how to use them effectively.

During the third week classes we learn about grant writing and report writing.

In all the week so far we were given class work, assignments and assessments. The teaching is more of interaction, discussion and practical.

At the end of the fourth week each participant will be given a certificate and job opportunity. And participate will be motivated if given packages like laptop, t-shirt or even cash.
